What is a Housing Co-op?
A housing Co-op is a group of people who work together to enjoy affordable housing in a cooperative way. NO LANDLORD! NO MORTGAGE! 'Your home
and immediate neighborhood are jointly owned and managed by all of the member residents. You buy a share to join the Co-op, and then pay a monthly housing charge. We all participate in work groups or committees to
care for our community.
What's so great about Champlain Heights?
Parks, parks and more parks! The Everett Crowley Park is a natural conservation area laced with walking trails; the rest of the neighborhood is filled with paved
walking trails and numerous play areas for children. Elementary schools within walking distance, and good high schools close by. Great local recreation centre within walking distance. A vibrant and
healthy community life offering a wide range of social and community activities.
Can we afford it?
At this point, the cost of shares range from $1,500.00 to $3,450.00, depending on the size of the unit. We can recommend credit unions that often make
small loans for the purpose of buying shares in Co-ops. In the year 2011/2012 our housing charges look like this:
| 1 B/R A (4): |
|
$597 |
| 2 B/R A (6): |
|
$714 |
| 2 B/R T (6): |
|

| 2 B/R TB (14): |

$8597 |
| 3 B/R T (4): |

Can we have a pet?
Yes. Each unit's allowed ONE outdoor pet (e.g. dog or cat), but no exotic pets, please (they can cause problems)! Please discuss your pet needs with us at the
Orientation meeting.
How do we apply?
All applicants to Le Coeur Housing Co-operative must attend
an orientation meeting where they will have the chance to learn about
our co-op and ask questions, helping them decide if co-op living is for
them. Application forms are only available at orientation meetings. To
find out when the next orientation will be held, please phone the co-op
office at (604) 436-5646
